Monday, July 7th, 2008‘B_SIDE’ WEYMOUTH ARTS FESTIVAL INFO RELEASED : Taking place 19th - 28th Sept 2008. It is intended that WAN have a venue at this Cultural Olympiad event. Interested members are needed to commit to exhibiting or/and helping with organisation, man-power & invigilation.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR SPIRIT OF SEA PROCESSION : ‘Kinetika’ & Weymouth Arts Network members worked with primary schools to make costumes, music & dance around the “Spirit of The Sea” theme, culminating in the ‘Moving Tides’ procession. Volunteers are needed to accompany & steward children on procession on Saturday 12th July at 6pm (meet at Weymouth College 4.30pm). For further info see here. CONTEMPORARY ART EXHIBITION VISITOR NUMBERS GOOD : The ‘A Contemporary Art Exhibition’ at Weymouth Museum Brewers Quay received over 2000 visitors during Dorset Arts Week & the subsequent two weeks. Press coverage.
MEMBERS SIT ON STEERING COMMITTEES : WAN currently has volunteer members sitting on three steering groups, hopefully representing views & the interests of local artists & creatives. Currently these include; the ‘Weymouth & Portland Partnership’, the ‘B-Side’ Arts Festival and the ‘Mulberry Arts Centre’.
Arts Advice Surgery
Wednesday, April 30th, 2008Audiences South West (formerly South West Arts Marketing) will be holding free one-hour advice surgeries on Tuesday 6 May in Yeovil, Somerset.
These one-to-one advice surgeries are open to cultural organisations and artists networks wishing to discuss any area of audience development and arts marketing. This can range from how best to promote a new project to engaging new audiences and developing a three-year audience development strategy and are designed to be open for you to discuss any area that is important to you and your organisation.
